Marrakech to the Desert ( 4 days )

Marrakech to Sahara Desert and Fez Tour ( 4 days )

This route is the opposite of our Fez to Marrakech itinerary and takes you from Marrakech, over the High Atlas Mountains, through Ouarzazate, Ait Ben Haddou, and Skoura (Valley of Kasbahs), to the Sahara Desert for a camel ride and camp out.

Then after words we take you through Rissani and Erfoud before entering the Middle Atlas Mountains and going through Midelt, Ifrane, and finally to Fez.

Day 1: Pick up in Marrakech | Ouarzazate | Ait Ben Haddou | Skoura (5hrs)

Today, you will depart from Marrakech at 9 am.

After passing over the Tizi n Tichka Pass of the High Atlas Mountains.

Along the way you will stop for lunch and have the opportunity to visit the UNESCO world heritage site atAit Ben Haddou.

You might also enjoy exploring Ouarzazate.

This relatively new city used to be home to the Kasbah, once owned by the Glaouis family who ruled Morocco.

You will have the option to spend the night in the Dades Valley or in Ouarzazate.

Day 2:Skoura- Merzouga (5hrs)

Today, you will be taken to Merzouga.

En route, you can stop at either the Dades Valley or the Todra Gorge.

Following, you’ll choose your camel and head about one hour into the desert to our private tent area.

The night is spent dining alfresco under the stars followed by a night in a Bedouin-style tent.

If you prefer not to camp out, simply ride the camel for one hour to view the sunset and spend the night at the kasbah hotel.

We have both standard and deluxe camps available.

Day 3:Sahara Desert- Erfoud (3hrs)

After rising early, you will be able to ride the camels back to the hotel where you can take a shower, have breakfast, and then venture into the lush Ziz Valley and Rissani.

The night will be spent in Erfoud.

Travelers also have the option of stopping in Midelt for the night, which helps shorten the following day’s driving time.

This opens up the possibility to do a walk within the Azrou and Ifrane areas.

Midelt is a good option in the warmer months (June through September), while Erfoud is a better option in the winter months (October through May).

Day 4: Erfoud-Midelt – Ifrane – Fez (7hrs)

Today, you’ll head north through the Middle Atlas Mountains throughout Midelt, Ifrane (the “Switzerland of Morocco”), and finally be dropped off at your hotel or guesthouse for the evening.
